1st VP Al and Maureen visit Plains, Georgia and Pres. Jimmy Carter

"We just returned to Atlanta from Plains Georgia. We were driven to Plains last night with a stop over to PIP Jim Ervin's bar and restaurant where we had a great visit with Jim and dinner. Went to church with the Carters today. We sat with the Carters. President Carter gave a Sunday school class. He spoke about Lions and recognized Maureen , myself and Jim Ervin who was with us. Maureen and I then were driven with the Carters by Secret Service to their favorite restaurant for some southern cooking. (It is by the way, the only restaurant in Plains!) We then were taken for a tour of the President's family farm, the place he grew up as a boy, for a personal tour. You should have seen the faces of visitors who did not expect the President to be personally giving a tour who then were invited by President Carter to join us! Today was a highlight of our life. We are very fortunate." 1/20/2008
